Leighton Thomas won Bute Golf Club’s extra medal on Saturday when he led the first class with net 65 playing off a handicap of 11.
Stuart Wilson (15) was the second class winner on net 66, with runner-up Peter Martin (23) four shots adrift on 70 and Ian McDougall (21) in third place on 71.
* David Bryden has taken a four-point lead after the first round of the Summer League stableford competition sponsored by The Bike Shed.
The 10-handicapper scored 40 points with John McBride (13) and Graham McArthur (6) sharing second place on 36 points and Robert McKirdy one point further behind on 35.
The tournament, with the best three scores counting from six rounds, continues next Thursday when competitors should make their own playing arrangements. Meanwhile Kingarth members compete for silverware again on Saturday, June 14, in The Lord Kingarth Trophy event with the usual ballot at 8.30am.
