Stephen Renfrew retained the Port Bannatyne gents’ championship title after an emphatic win over Alex Greer junior in Saturday’s 36-hold final.
Stephen’s 9 and 8 win endorsed his status as top qualifier and favourite to take the title throughout the knockout week.
Stephen reached the final with a win over Jim Thom in the last eight, although that game was not as comfortable for Stephen as some may have thought, then a win over Graham Dunn in the semi final.
Alex, meanwhile, defeated John Black in the quarters and then some really strong and confident play saw him defeat Donald Standaloft to book his place in the final.
The morning round finished with Stephen three holes to the good, and the defending champion grew in confidence after the lunch break to secure his second successive title on the tenth green.
