Golf: stableford success adds to Andy’s trophy haul

PROLIFIC winner Andy Docherty struck again at the weekend with his fourth victory of the season at Bute Golf Club, when he added the McDougall Trophy to his previous successes with another impressive performance. The 12-handicapper led the field with 37 points in the annual stableford competition on a day of difficult scoring conditions, as a strong westerly wind swept the Kingarth course.

The victory came hard on the heels of his runner-up award in the Kingarth Open, and followed two medal wins and victory in the RNLI Shield competition earlier in the season.

Trophy donor Ian McDougall (21) and David Bryden (9) shared second place on 36 points on Saturday, with Steve Neilson (19) and Duncan Speirs (7) one point further behind.
