Golf: Speirs wins Kingarth title on senior debut

DUNCAN SPEIRS won Bute Golf Club’s senior open title this week with a winning net score of 60 over his home course at Kingarth.

Speirs, whose net score was achieved courtesy of a gross 67, won the competition’s top prize at the first attempt, having only just reached the age of eligibility to enter the event.

The new winner of the Burnside Bowl was presented with his trophy on Friday by club captain Frazer Robinson and honorary captain and tournament sponsor Jimmy Burnside.
