Golf: Smith moves into running for Kingarth title

An outstanding performance by Richie Smith last Saturday catapulted the 18-handicapper firmly into contention for Bute Golf Club’s Winter League title.

Thanks to a gross score of 75, Smith boosted his aggregate total by 15 stableford points to move into fourth place in the table with an on-the-day score of 47 points - just three points behind new overall leader Andy Docherty.

Runner-up on Saturday was Graeme Connor (13) with 41 points; Docherty (10) took top spot overall with a score of 39 points.
