Ivan Cowie and Michael Murty hold a six-point lead at the top of the standings going into the final round of Rothesay Golf Club’s Winter League pairs competition this weekend.

Cowie and Murty have a ‘best eight scores’ total of 347 stableford points, six clear of Gary Steele and Jimmy Crawford, with Darren Leonard and Nicky Simmons on 334.

The top two pairs in the league table were also the top two in Sunday’s penultimate round, with Cowie and Murty extending their overall advantage with a winning score of 48 points, four ahead of Crawford and Steele.

* Meanwhile, Ron Cuthbertson returned the highest score of this year’s singles Winter League so far with a tally of 45 points on Saturday, including net eagles at the sixth, 12th and 14th holes, to finish six clear of second-best Frank Lee.
