Captain Hugh Charker led his Rothesay Golf Club 2 team to victory in the popular Inter-Pub Trophy competition at Rothesay on Sunday.

Eighteen teams from pubs, golf clubs and social clubs around the island took part in the annual tournament, which saw Hugh and his team-mates, Michael Murty, Henry Tait, Craig Charker, David Coll and Mike Dodds post a winning best-four-scores total of 283 shots.

That gave them victory over Mac’s Bar 1 (Stan Gaston, Jason McKay, George Hanson, George Reynolds, Gordon Haig and Tommy Reynolds) by the tightest of margins - the Mac’s team also returned a score of 283, but were beaten by a better fifth score.

The top individual score was returned by Thomas McCready, representing Mac’s 4, whose net 65 (73-8) was one clear of Tommy Reynolds and Craig Charker.
