Six Port Bannatyne players feature in the top seven after the first round of this year’s M&M Trophy was played at the Port course on Sunday.

The annual tournament features one round at each of the island’s three courses, so with home advantage it was hardly surprising to see the Port’s players dominate the leaderboard after Sunday’s opening salvo.

Matthew Dunn and Ian Shaw lead the way with net 67s - Ian’s achieved off a handicap of six, his 73 being the best gross score of the day, while Matthew took his share of joint top with a score of 76-9.

Robert Jardine (80-12=68) and Gordy Macintyre (96-28=68) are each one shot behind, and are joined by Rothesay’s Ian Simpson (76-8=68), while another Port pair, Iain McFarlane and Jim Thom, are one shot further behind with net scores of 69. The CSS was 68.

The second round of the M&M is played at Rothesay on Wednesday, with the third and final round over Bute Golf Club’s Kingarth course on Sunday, May 11.
