A three-way play-off will take place this Monday, August 4, to decide the fate of one of Rothesay Golf Club’s most prestigious prizes - the Bennie Trophy.

Iain White, Rory McEwan and Graham Bolton will do battle for the prize after each carded a one-over-par round of 70 in the scratch competition, which was halved in length from its normal 36 holes to 18 due to horrendous weather which saw the field battle through driving rain and brisk winds for most of the day.

There had been hopes that the rain might ease sufficiently to allow the play-off to take place in the afternoon, but with no sign of an end to the heavy downpours and another of the club’s major tournaments, the Wee Bennie, due to take place on Sunday, the three top finishers agreed to wait until Monday to hold the play-off which will decide the trophy.
