The Robert McAlister Memorial Trophy left for the mainland on Sunday by virtue of Paisley Golf Club’s Cameron Lyle shooting a net 61 in Port Bannatyne Golf Club’s junior open.

Lyle, who was in the last group to go out on the course, posted a gross 73, less his handicap of 12, to pip the Port’s own Murray McClymont by one shot - Murray having been one of the first players in and having been leader in the clubhouse for the whole day.

The podium places were completed by the Port’s Iain Crawford, courtesy of a net 66, while Rothesay’s junior open champion Scott McAlister took the scratch prize with a 71, three ahead of his Rothesay clubmate Lewis Poole.
