It was not a ‘welcome back’ to The Rothesay Motor Services Winter League for John Preston on Sunday.

A long-time player in this competition, and in fact a previous winner, John’s role is now down to subbing when available but the bet is he wishes he had stayed in his bed on Sunday instead of subbing for holiday maker Gordon Peacock!

The 8&7 drubbing handed out to him and Colin Renfrew by David Driver and Sam Jamieson will not be missed amongst the ‘harsher’ critics of Port Bannatyne Golf Club!

In the other games in League A, Donald Standaloft and Hector Whitelaw comfortably beat James Webster and Arran Dunn 5&4 while A. Greer and A. Greer (J) defeated Connor McLymont and Iain McFarlane by 4&3 to get their league campaign up and running after their defeat in round one.
