Graham McArthur closed the gap at the top of Bute Golf Club’s Summer League last week when he moved to within a point of leader Leighton Thomas.
A winning score of 71 for 39 stableford points in the fourth round of the tournament gave the six-handicapper a total of 118 from three counting rounds, while pacesetter Thomas (10) scored 35 points to increase his own tally to 119.
Other leading scores from last week were Robert McKirdy (5) on 38 points while Andy Docherty (10), Robert McBride (13), and Duncan Speirs (7) were all on 37 points.
The final round of the competition, which is sponsored by The Bike Shed, will take place on July 10.
* Henry Tait (13) was the top scorer in the June Medal on Saturday when he finished one shot ahead of Duncan Speirs (7) with net 68.
Members are back in competitive action tomorrow (Saturday) when they will compete for the St Blane’s Trophy. The usual ballot will be at the clubhouse at 8.30am.
