Golf: Last unbeaten record falls at Port

The last unbeaten record in the Rothesay Motor Services Winter League at Port Bannatyne was sent tumbling on Sunday - leaving the qualification battle wide open.

Sam Jamieson and Roddie Shaw lost their undefeated record to the bottom-of-the-league pairing of Robert Durrant and Chris South in what may, at first glance, have looked like a major shock - although there was more to the result than met the eye at first.

The first was the fact that Chris South was unable to play due to a new addition to his family - a third daughter, Christie Petra - and Donald Standaloft was a more than able substitute.

The second extenuating circumstance lay in Roddie’s duties at the Fire Brigade’s Burns supper the night before, which meant the undefeated pair was always up against it, helping Robert and Chris (aka Donald) notch up a 2 and 1 win.
