The line-up for the semi-finals of this season’s Rothesay Motor Services Winter League at Port Bannatyne Golf Club was decided on Sunday.

Ted McDonald and Jamie Jardine beat Colin Renfrew and Gordon Peacock 5 and 4 in the last eight, and will face Gordy Macintyre and Jim Thom, who saw off Connor McClymont and Iain McFarlane by a 3 and 2 margin.

The other two quarter-final ties saw last year’s winners and runners-up both bite the dust: Robert Jardine and Mark Crichton went down 4 and 3 to Donald Standaloft and Hector Whitelaw, while John Black and Bobby Pedder lost 3 and 2 at the hands of David Driver and Sam Jamieson.

The semi-final ties, and the last four matches in the fight to avoid the wooden spoon, will be played this Sunday, March 15: see this week’s issue of The Buteman (on sale on March 12) for full details of the fixture list.
