Golf: Kingarth matches to decide Bute senior league

Bute Golf Club are ideally placed to be the kingmakers as this year’s Bute Senior Golf League nears its conclusion - despite no longer being in title contention themselves.

Two heavy defeats on their travels have all but done for the Kingarth club’s own chances of success, but with home games to come against Rothesay and Port Bannatyne, Bute’s team members will still have a big say in the destiny of the championship.

Port Bannatyne and Rothesay travel to Kingarth on four points apiece, with Rothesay being marginal favourites on the basis of an extra half game won on a countback.

Resuls so far: Rothesay 4 Bute 0; Port Bannatyne 2 Rothesay 2; Port Bannatyne 3½ Bute ½; Rothesay 2 Bute 2.
