Arthur Hunter was in a class of his own on Saturday in Bute Golf Club’s Committee Prize Day stableford competition.

The eight-handicapper achieved his best score of the year at Kingarth with a one-over-par 69, despite a strong westerly wind, in a round including birdies at the fifth, 11th and 16th.

Hunter’s 43 points put him four clear of Jim McKirdy (8) on 39; Frazer Robinson (27) was third on 37.

The CSS was 66, while Leighton Thomas’s magnificent birdie at the sixth was the day’s only two.
