Bute Golf Club's last competition of the summer, the James Lamong Quaich, was won by Graeme Connor.

Graeme Connor chipped and putted his way to a second trophy success this season when he won the James Lamont Quaich last Saturday in Bute Golf Club’s final stroke-play competition of the summer programme.

The 12-handicapper, who had previously lifted the Hume Ferguson Cup, was in outstanding form around the greens as he scored net 62 for a two-shot victory over runner-up Andy Docherty.

Connor completed the outward half in two-over-par 36 with one birdie three at the eighth hole - and, despite a double-bogey blow at the 16th, he recovered strongly to secure victory with pars at the remaining holes. Docherty (9) finished with the leading scratch score of the day on 73 after a steady round which included 13 fours and two threes.
