Rory McEwan and his uncle Jimmy Ewing made it a family affair at the top of the standings in the latest round of the Bike Shed Winter League competition at Rothesay Golf Club on Saturday.

Rory and Jimmy were tied for first place on 39 points apiece, though Rory’s better inward half gave him top spot after a countback - and his good day was completed by a two at the 13th hole.

Meanwhile, Michael Murty and Ivan Cowie climbed from 17th place to sixth in the overall standings after Sunday’s round of the Winter League pairs competition.

Their jump up the leaderboard was down partly to their winning score of 47 points, and partly to Sunday’s round being their eighth of this winter’s tournament, in which each pair’s best eight rounds count towards their total.
