Andy Docherty’s grasp on the McArthur Cup tightened last Saturday when he consolidated his place at the top of Bute Golf Club’s Winter League with another strong performance.

The title-holder’s gross 72, for 41 stableford points, took his tally to 315 from eight counting rounds, increasing his lead to 13 points over Graham McArthur in second place.

Docherty (9) shared first place with John Greenshields (20) on Saturday after both players scored 41 points; Richie Smith (19) was third with 37 while Leighton Thomas (11), and McArthur (6), were next with 36 points apiece.

Leading placings in the league table are: A. Docherty 315, G. McArthur 302, R. Smith 287, J. Kernahan 285, and R. More 284.
