Andy Docherty completed a Winter League double on Saturday when he added the Bute Golf Club title to his earlier success at the Rothesay course.

As expected, Docherty’s total of 322 points proved to be too great for the main challengers at Kingarth as he lifted the McArthur Cup for a second successive year with his ten-point lead over the chasing pack intact.

The victory followed his triumph, along with partner Jason McKay, in the Canada Hill club’s Winter League six days previously.

Graham McArthur was again runner-up as the trophy, which was gifted to the club by his father in 1986, continues to elude him. David Bryden finished in third place with the ever-improving John McBride a creditable fourth.
