CONNOR McCLYMONT of Port Bannatyne won the prestigious junior open title at Rothesay Golf Club on Wednesday.

Connor, a pupil at Rothesay Academy, bounced back from the disappointment of being knocked out in the quarter-finals of the Port club championship by returning a net score of 61 to secure the trophy by a three-shot margin from Lewis Poole, the best-placed player from the host club.

The podium was completed by another Port Bannatyne junior member, Craig Fisher, who scored a net 65 to take third place.

The tournament’s scratch prize was won by Chris Richmond of Cowal Golf Club in Dunoon, who carded a superb round of 70 to finish six shots clear of Alastair Shaw of Port Bannatyne.
