Title-holder Andy Docherty made a forward move in his bid to retain the McArthur Cup on Saturday when he posted the winning score in the fourth round of Bute Golf Club’s Winter League.

The nine-handicapper found the form which saw him lift the trophy in last season’s tournament when he returned a gross 72 for 41 stableford points - three ahead of his nearest challengers. Docherty finished both nine-holes in style with birdies at the ninth and 18th.

Graeme Connor (12) and Steve Neilson (18) were in joint second place with 38 points apiece; Connor had birdies at the seventh and 16th while Neilson produced the only two of the round with a birdie at the third.
