Golf: Bute course hosts ladies’ Millennium Trophy

Elizabeth Speirs of Bute Golf Club won the island’s Millennium Trophy with a net score of 69, playing off a handicap of 21.

The annual competition is open to the lady members of all three island golf clubs and saw 14 players do battle for the prize over the Bute club’s Kingarth course on June 23.

Elizabeth’s score saw her finish two shots clear of her nearest challenger, Rothesay’s Elizabeth McMillan, whose net 71 was achieved off a handicap of 11 shots.

The Bute club’s annual mixed competitions day, for the Kerrytonlia Cup and R.A. Pride Shield, takes place on Sunday, July 5. Each competition is played for over nine holes in a Texas scramble format.
