Graham Bolton maintained his one hundred per cent record of title wins in the match-play stages of Bute Golf Club’s championship on Sunday when he won the Gavin North Trophy for a fourth time.

The scratch player added to his victories in 2014, 2011, and 2000 when he defeated Robert McKirdy by 5 and 4 over a Kingarth course made difficult by a brisk easterly wind.

In the semi-finals Bolton defeated Ritchie More by 6 and 5 while McKirdy won his way into the final with a 6 and 4 success over Leighton Thomas.

* Stuart Wilson secured his second Cuthbertson Cup win in three years on Sunday with a last-green victory over Richie Smith in the final of the ‘Wee Championship’, recovering from two holes down with six to play to take the prize.
