‘Are we very keen golfers or just mad?!’ That was the question being asked by the players who took part in this week’s winter league.

With strong wind and heavy rain and the added hazard of a fallen tree on the first fairway the scoring was never going to be great but two pairs did manage to score a total of 43 points.

The winners this week were last year’s overall winners Gary Steele and Jimmy Crawford who won on the count-back against Andy Docherty and Jason McKay, after both pairs scored 23 points out and 20 in, with Gary and Jimmy taking first place by scoring 13 points on the last six holes compared to 12 by Andy and Jason.

The only other pair to score over 40 points were Craig Charker and Kenny Thomson with 42 points. Not surprisingly, no two was scored at the nominated fourth hole so the pot will be frozen with the eighth being added for next week.
