Golf: Arran tour ends Port centenary year in style

Port Bannatyne’s golfers brought their club’s centenary year to a close in style with a tour to Arran which incorporated a mini version of the Ryder Cup.

From the moment the tour began on Thursday afternoon it was a success for all who took part - particularly those who found themselves part of the Port’s ‘Team USA’, who triumphed by ten and a half points to three and a half over their ‘European’ counterparts.

The tour was based at the Kinloch Hotel in Blackwaterfoot and featured matches at Brodick, Corrie and Shiskine golf clubs, as well as plenty of time spent watching TV coverage of the real Europeans’ remarkable victory over the USA at Medinah Country Club near Chicago.

* This weekend it’s back to the Port’s home course for the club’s medal finals, with an extra sweep medal for those who have not qualified.
