Bute YFC’s under-17s continued their winning start to the new Paisley, Johnstone and District YFL campaign with a 3-1 home win over Clarkston AAC on Saturday.

Scott McAlister opened the scoring for the hosts, and Matthew Leitch rounded off a flowing move with the second before the interval against a Clarkston side which was reduced to ten men as a result of a last-man foul in the closing stages of the first half.

Substitute Keiran Fenner sealed the points with a bullet header from a corner early in the second half, and though a stuffy Clarkston side managed to pull one back it wasn’t enough to prevent the islanders - for whom Nathan Kernaghan was named man of the match - taking maximum points for the second week in a row.
