Matthew Leitch hit a hat-trick as Bute YFC’s under-16s dumped holders and top seeds Harmony Row out of the Renfrewshire Cup with a stunning 6-1 win at Pirie Park on Saturday.
The island side recovered magnificently from an early setback when Kalum Ledicott turned an attempted clearance into his own net after only 15 seconds; Leitch equalised after a lovely solo run before Connor McClymont curled in a beauty to put Bute 2-1 up at half time.
Leitch’s second made it three before Ronan Officer crowned a fine counter-attack with a stunning finish, and captain Max Allan smashed home a rebound for number five.
Leitch completed his hat-trick and rounded off a superb day for the island side with a late diving header.
