VIDEO: Football: Rothesay Brandane 2, Drumchapel FP 3

Two superb goals by Ronan Officer weren’t quite enough to prevent Rothesay Brandane slipping to a 3-2 defeat at home to Drumchapel FP in the Caledonian League on Saturday.

The Danes got off to the worst possible start when Billy Ferguson headed Drumchapel into the lead within ten seconds of the kick-off, and John McBride passed up the chance to level when his penalty was saved by the visiting keeper and he blazed the rebound over the bar.

Joe Preston’s simple finish gave Drumchapel a 2-0 interval lead, but Officer pulled the Danes back into the game four minutes after the restart with a magnificent half-volley which found the top corner from wide on the left.

Despite their best efforts the Rothesay men were unable to force an equaliser, and John Cusick made the points safe for the visitors nine minutes from the end - though Officer set up a tense finish when his inch-perfect free kick found the far corner of the Drumchapel net in the 89th minute.
