Rothesay Brandane moved up to second place in the Caledonian League Division 1 following their hard fought 2-1 win over a very strong Hamilton FP team on Saturday, November 30.

Rothesay goal scorers were Neil Whitelaw (1) who found the net in the first-half, and Stuart McKechnie (1), who sealed victory for the Bute lads with only eight minutes left of the game.

Hamilton were unable to equalise, despite bringing on three subs (all over 6ft tall) and firing high balls into the Danes’ penalty box. Keeper Willie Lawrence and his back four held firm, to see the Bute team through.

The Danes are playing at home this Saturday (December 7) against Cumbernauld Colts. Kick-off is at 2pm and players should report at 12.30pm, and no later.
