A group of 26 Bute residents travelled to Dens Park on Saturday, May 3, to show support for former Rothesay Academy pupil Jim McAlister, who helped his team Dundee FC secure the Championship title and automatic promotion to the Premiership in a 2-1 win over Dumbarton.

Jim, who signed for Dundee FC in 2012, has now secured his second league winners’ medal - he won the first back when he played for Greenock Morton FC - and is now classed as one of the most experienced players at Dundee.

Lifelong Dundee FC supporter and Brandane, Jimmy Keith - who was at the game along with Jim’s friends and family - told us that it was another outstanding day for the Bute footballer, adding that he played a superb game and this latest win will hopefully be the start of bigger things to come.
