Rothesay Brandane - seen here in action against Weir Recreation earlier this season - haven't played since the end of November due to weather and the Christmas and New Year holiday period.

Rothesay Brandane’s hopes of at last seeing some competitive action after a lengthy festive break were thwarted by a late snow flurry on Saturday.

The Danes had been due to travel to Glasgow to play Milngavie Wanderers, but heavy wintry showers on Saturday morning forced the postponement of the teams’ Caledonian League clash - less than an hour before the islanders’ players had been due to set off.

The Rothesay team - who were last in action in a 4-0 league defeat at home to Hamilton FP at the end of November - are due to host one of the Caledonian League’s new boys, Dumbarton side Myre Athletic, this weekend. The game (weather permitting, of course!) kicks off at the public park in High Street at 2pm this Saturday, January 24.
