Rothesay Brandane staged a stirring fightback on Saturday to draw 3-3 at home to Rhu Amateurs after being 2-0 down with less than 20 minutes to play.

Rhu took the lead five minutes before the break and looked to have tied up the points with a 40-yard screamer which found the net with less than a quarter of the game remaining.

But Wes Pattison headed home a Sean Lawrence cross before Scott McDonald levelled the scores - and though the visitors went back in front on the counter-attack, Pattison’s second after another Lawrence cross was only half-cleared rescued a hard-earned draw for the Danes, who lost the last game between the sides 9-0 but had won their last two league matches before Saturday.

The Brandanes’ bid to climb the Caledonian League Division 1B table continues this Saturday, March 28, with a trip to Lanarkshire to face Hamilton FP.
