Rothesay Brandane have received a boost ahead of the start of the new Caledonian League season after youth coach Roddie Leitch agreed to join the club’s coaching team.
Roddie will assist the team’s new joint player-managers Neil Whitelaw and Stuart McKechnie, who were appointed last month.
The move follows the disbanding of Bute Youth Football Coaching’s under-17 team following four successful years together under Roddie’s guiding hand, and comes after eight BYFC graduates made the step up to senior football by joining the Brandanes for the new campaign.
“I’ve agreed to help the team out this year,” Roddie told The Buteman, “mainly to help bed in the young boys from the under-17s.
“Bute Youth Football will be continuing - I’m hoping to get an under-13 and under-14 group training together as a squad and maybe organise a few friendly matches before entering a league next year.”
The Brandanes’ new competitive season begins with a sectional League Cup tie away to Dalziel HSFP this Saturday, August 16.
