Goals by Neil Whitelaw and Sean Lawrence earned Rothesay Brandane a 2-0 home win over Cumbernauld Colts on Saturday - the island side’s fourth successive victory in the Caledonian League.

The Danes just about shaded a goalless first half, but had to wait until after the break for their reward, Whitelaw converting a Stuart McKechnie corner in the 55th minute to put the Brandanes ahead against a Cumbernauld side who were beaten 4-1 when the sides last met at Broadwood Stadium in August.

And eight minutes later Lawrence laid the ball off to captain Wes Pattison after a fine run at the heart of the Colts’ defence, and his skipper returned the favour with a low cross which Lawrence stroked home at the far post to extend the islanders’ unbeaten league run to two months.
