A DEPLETED Brandanes side fell to their heaviest defeat in several years on Saturday as a ruthless Bearsden side completed a home-and-away double over the Rothesay men with a crushing 8-0 victory.
Scott Anderson snapped up the rebound to open the scoring midway through the first half after Brandanes keeper Ryan Kean blocked a Steven Cusick effort, and Chris Keaveney doubled the lead on the half-hour after a defensive mix-up.
Keaveney’s second from a defence-splitting Anderson pass left the Rothesay men trailing 3-0 at the break, and the hosts showed no sign of easing off after the interval, stretching away with three goals in the space of five minutes – the pick of them coming from Keaveney, who completed his hat-trick with a glorious curling shot into the top corner.
The Brandanes briefly rallied, and Wes Pattison twice came close to a consolation goal, but Bearsden upped the pace in the closing minutes and Keaveney added his fourth before John Dillon rounded off the scoring four minutes from the end.
