Rothesay Brandane’s penultimate away game of the season ended in a 5-0 loss at the hands of Castlemilk Amateurs on Saturday.

The island side battled hard throughout the first half, but they came up against a well-organised Castlemilk defence and had keeper Willie Lawrence to thank for a couple of fine stops to keep the scoresheet blank at half-time.

Castlemilk’s frustration at failing to turn their possession into goals was clear as the first half drew to a close, and if the Danes had managed to keep out their hosts until the final half-hour of the game things might just have turned in their favour - but Dylan McKinnon scored twice in ten minutes to open the floodgates early in the second half, and Thomas Finnigan’s head-flick made it 3-0 to the home side.

Connaire Dawson snapped up Lex Elliot’s goal-line clearance for the fourth, before Alec Watt stroked home an 89th-minute penalty to complete the scoring.
