BUTE’s young footballers will have the chance to test themselves against international opposition this weekend when they play host to a New York team coached by a former resident of Bute.
George ‘Jingles’ Macdonald will lead out his New York Gunners under-13s in a friendly match against their Bute YFC counterparts at the public stadium in Rothesay’s High Street this Sunday, August 5.
The Bute YFC team will be coached by Rothesay Academy PE teacher Chris South, since BYFC head coach Roddie Leitch is, ironically, on holiday in the USA.
Roddie did, however, call on all the players’ parents, friends and relatives, and the whole of Bute, to come out and cheer for both teams on a historic occasion for the club and the island.
The match kicks off at 11am, and BYFC players are asked to report to Chris at the stadium at 10am.
