Rothesay Brandane AFC suffered their first home defeat of the 2012-13 Caledonian League campaign on Saturday as Glasgow side Cambria defeated the island team 3-1.

James Sprowl’s goal was the only crumb of comfort for the local men as their Glasgow opponents, who are in their first season as ‘Caley’ members, continued their strong start to the campaign with a fifth win from seven matches to climb to second spot in the table.

Elsewhere in the First Division on Saturday, leaders Hamilton FP extended their advantage at the top with a 1-0 home win over Rhu, while Bearsden fell from second place to third after losing 3-2 at Strathclyde University.

Saturday’s other First Division results were as follows: Balmore 2-2 Weir Recreation, East Kilbride YM 6-1 Viewfield Rovers, Milngavie Wanderers v EKFC Whitehills postponed.
