Rothesay Brandane extended their winning start to the 2013-14 Caledonian League campaign with a battling 3-2 win at home to Rhu Amateurs on Saturday.

Though they dominated for long spells of an absorbing game, the Danes found themselves trailing 2-1 at one point, Wes Pattison having found the net for the hosts.

Rhu might have found themselves in an even stronger position had they not missed a first half penalty, although equally the Danes could have taken control had the returning Sean Lawrence found the net instead of hitting the post on three separate occasions.

Happily for the home supporters, Pattison’s second pulled the locals back on to level terms before Gavin McLean hit the winner to give the Danes their third straight league victory.

The result leaves the Rothesay team as one of only two in the Caledonian League first division with a one hundred per cent record: the other is Dalziel HSFP, who have played a game more, though the league table is topped on goal difference by Viewfield Rovers and Bearsden, who both have four wins from five matches.
