An over-18 section is to be reintroduced to this season’s Bute indoor football competition in a bid to boost the number of entries.

Committee members from Rothesay Brandane AFC met on Monday night to discuss the future of the tournament - and have decided to go ahead with this season’s competition, with a deferred start date of Friday, November 15, a week later than originally planned.

Entry forms for the over-18 section are available from Glen’s Footwear in Victoria Street, and must be returned by Friday, November 15.

In addition, local Active Schools co-ordinators are promoting entry forms in the island’s schools for the younger age groups - under 9, under 11, under 13, under 15 and under 18.

These sections are now free to enter, and entry forms MUST be returned by this Friday, November 8, to allow the junior sections to kick off on November 15, with the senior section following thereafter.

Henry Tait from the Rothesay Brandane committee said: “This is the last chance to keep the long running tournament going, so please get entries in soon as possible.”
