NEIL WHITELAW converted two penalties as the Brandanes finally picked up their first Caledonian League points of 2012 on Saturday courtesy of a 4-2 win away to Hamilton FP.
Whitelaw opened the scoring from the spot after just eight minutes, but Hamilton’s number nine made the most of some poor defending to level the tie after half an hour.
Wes Pattison rounded the Hamilton keeper to put the islanders back in front just after the restart, but Hamilton’s number eight scored his team’s second equaliser after an hour, and a good spell of pressure from the home side was nearly rewarded when a powerful shot struck Kean’s crossbar.
But the Brandanes weathered the storm and took the lead for a third time when Chris Donnelly stabbed the ball home after a goalmouth scramble, and Whitelaw finally made the points safe with his second spot-kick of the day after Pattison was brought down inside the box.
This Saturday, February 18, the Brandanes are away to Bearsden in the Caledonian League.
