Favourites hold on to confirm success

The final weekend of this year’s Bike Shed Winter League at Rothesay Golf Club was played, and thankfully the weather stayed fine for the final rounds of this year’s tournament, writes Willie Glen.

The top five places in the singles league didn’t change much on the final day - Angus Murray was the only player to move up a place, going from fifth to fourth ahead of Jim McClean.The final places were: 1 Stuart Strathie; 2 Michael Murty; 3 Kenny Thomson; 4 Angus Murray; 5 Jim McClean.

A shotgun start at 11 oclock got things underway in the pairs on Sunday and it was the pairing of Tommy Kilpatrick and Greg Fisher who came out on top with a score of 46 points, their best round of the year, with Gary Steele and Jimmy Crawford runners up on 44 points.

Seven twos were scored on the final day with the following players splitting the rollover twos money: Gordon Shaw and Willie Glen, Craig Charker and Kenny Thomson, George Reynolds and Allan Smith, Stuart Strathie and Allan Laughlan, Richard McIntyre and Frank Lee, Jason McKay and Andy Docherty, and Jimmy Burke and Ron Cuthbertson.
