Elaine Thom won the first Nine-Hole Stableford of the new season at Port Bannatyne Golf Club recently.

Elaine Thom won the first Nine-Hole Stableford competition of the season in April with Anita Rutherford close runner-up at Port Bannatyne Golf Club.

Anita took top position in the Scottish Golf April Medal with Ann Kennovin in second. Claire Colquhoun, showing great potential in her first competition, was a creditable fourth on April 18. The first round of the Archibald Trophy ended with Elaine again first and Anita second, the scoring was close so the competition is wide open for the second round near the end of the season.

The Ladies Championship Qualifier, the first May competition, was also close scoring with only five strokes separating Elaine, first and Anita second.

The Scottish Golf May Medal was played in fantastic weather and was won by Elaine with Ann the runner-up.

The Wilkinson Trophy, an Eclectic Competition is off to a flying start with threes and fours all over the sheet. This week there was great excitement during a fun four Ball Better Ball competition when Claire scored a ‘magic two’ at the tenth. Claire’s beautifully shaped tee shot landed four inches from the hole and she sank the putt to a big cheer from onlookers including Club Captain John Black who said she had “nerves of steel”. (Not bad for someone who has only been hitting the ball for seven weeks.)

We hope the weather will be kind for our first ‘Golf and Food’ mixed social event of the season.
