Pacesetters Andy Docherty and Graham McArthur both marginally improved their totals at the top of Bute Golf Club’s Winter League last week when, yet again, competitors battled against strong westerly winds which swept the exposed Kingarth course.

Nine-handicapper Docherty finished in first place for the sixth time on Saturday when his 38-points’ winning tally increased his overall total from eight counting scores to 322 points - 12 clear of second-placed McArthur (6) who also moved up one point to 310.

The other leading placings as the stableford tournament - sponsored by Stephen Thomas of Optimize Financial Solutions, Ltd. - moves into its final month are: David Bryden 304, John Kernaghan 295, Richie More 294, Leighton Thomas 290, Richie Smith 289, John McBride 287, and Mike Whaley 286.
