Winter League winner Robert McKirdy continued his run of success on Saturday in the first competition of the season at Bute Golf Club.
The six-handicapper led division one in the April medal with a three-over-par score of 71 for net 65.
Birdies at the fifth and 18th holes gave him a three-shot victory in first class over joint runners-up David Bryden (10) and Duncan Speirs (7) who each scored 68. John McBride (11) and Graham McArthur (5) were other leading players with scores of 71 and 72 respectively.
Peter Martin was a runaway winner in division two with net 66 playing off 24. Stuart Wilson (14) and Steven Neilson (18) tied for second place after each scored 71, while Henry Tait (13) was third with 72.
Two players scored twos on the day, Leighton Thomas at the 12th and Richie More at the 15th; the CSS was 67.
* Kingarth members are back in medal action tomorrow (Saturday) when the usual ballot will take place at the clubhouse at 8.30am.
