THE ever-improving Andy Docherty added a new trophy to his growing silverware haul when he lifted the McArthur Cup at the weekend after a successful Winter League campaign.
Although the nine-handicapper did not improve on his overall score of 328 stableford points on Saturday, it proved to be a total too far for his challengers as he ended six points clear at the top of the table.
Only Graham McArthur (5) made a significant forward move in the final round as took the runner-up award after finishing on a high with a one-over-par 69 for 40 points. The score enabled him to jump four places ahead of Robert McKirdy, Richie More and Richie Smith.
Defending title-holder Leighton Thomas (13) returned the top score of the day with 41 points which moved him up to seventh place in the league. Other leading players included Ian McDougall (21) 40, Richie More (11) and Peter Martin (23), both 39, Donald Standaloft (4) and David Bryden (10), both 38, Robert McKirdy (5) and John Kernaghan (13), both 36.
