Stuart Wilson splashed his way to victory in the latest round of Bute Golf Club’s Winter League on Saturday when the stableford tournament was again disrupted by wind and rain.

Only eight players braved the conditions in which the 12-handicapper did well to score 38 points for a comfortable win. Richie More (12), Leighton Thomas (9), and John McBride (11) were his nearest challengers on 34 points apiece.

The success consolidated Wilson’s fifth place in the overall standings, with 310 points from eight counting scores. Robert McKirdy continues to lead on 325 points with Leighton Thomas in second place on 320. Other leading challengers include John McBride 318 and Graham McArthur 314.
