Robert McKirdy is the early pacesetter in the challenge for the McArthur Cup in Bute Golf Club’s Winter League.

The five-handicapper heads the table by six points with a tally of 314 in the tournament with the best eight scores counting. Other leading players are Graham McArthur 308, Leighton Thomas 307, David Bryden and Richie Smith, both 292, and Richie More 285.

McKirdy shared second place in the latest round of the competition on Saturday, when both he and Graham McArthur scored 38 points to finish two behind this week’s winner Robert McBride.

McArthur and McKirdy were the day’s leading scratch scorers, each completing their 18 holes in 71 shots.
