There was plenty of golfing action in and around Bute last weekend in what was perfect playing conditions.
Bute Golf Club
An outward-half score of level-par 34 set David Bryden up for victory in the fourth round of the Winter League at Bute Golf Club on Saturday.
The 11-handicapper birdied the ninth hole to offset a dropped shot at the sixth for a stableford tally of 24 points - and he kept it going on the back nine to finish with an overall score of 43 points.
John McBride (10) was edged into runner-up spot with a total of 42 points after a fine round which included birdies at the seventh and 18th holes.
Sandy Long (24) also produced his best performance of the tournament to finish in third place on 41 points having twice recorded pars at the difficult par-three sixth hole.
The other leading scorers were Jim Thom (10) on 39 points, Richie Smith (17) 38, Graeme Connor (13) and Peter Martin (26), both 37, and Leighton Thomas (9) 36.

They all found the going tough with first day defeats but are sure to find their feet in the weeks to come.

In joint second place were Ron Cuthbertson and Jim McClean on 37 points.
The pairs winter league on Sunday resulted in two pairs scoring 42 points.
Jason and Peter McKay won on count back from Bob (Bunker) McKechnie and Jimmy Ewing.
It was surreal to watch golfers walking off the 18th green in short sleeve shirts given it’s now November.
May the good weather continue but don’t bet on it.
No twos were scored at the 11th so this will be carried forward to next week.
